Physiotherapy is an allied health profession that contributes to the health and well-being of our population. It is a profession with an emphasis on analysis of movement based on the structure and function of the body.
Within Primary HealthCare, Physiotherapists provide a holistic approach to maximise the patient’s functional potential and treat patients with physical problems caused by musculoskeletal conditions. Physiotherapy helps restore movement and function to as near normal as possible. Different modes of treatment are used to address the needs of individual clients, for e.g. exercise, movement, electro physical agents, self-management and prevention advice.
Physiotherapists work closely with patients, their carers and other healthcare professionals as interdisciplinary team members. The role of the physiotherapist ranges from direct clinical, therapeutic and rehabilitative interventions to health promotion, patient and carer education and participation in healthcare development.
