Since 11th August 2012, the Department of Primary HealthCare has introduced a new wellness clinic, in collaboration with the Down Syndrome Association.
The clinic is intended for all individuals with Down Syndrome aged 16 years and over.
In this service, adults with Down's Syndrome are followed up in a holistic manner via a team composed of a doctor and a nurse. All the necessary preventive management and follow-up long term diseases is catered for in this clinic.
This clinic operates regularly once a week from two different community clinics which are Hamrun and Zabbar.
Referrals may be received from private GPs, Health Centre GPs, MDH, Allied Professionals, CDAU, Child Guidance Clinic, Adult Learning Disabilities Unit, Schools or self-referred.
