Urology Outreach

Overview

The service was launched in January, 2012. It is run by an experienced nurse who provides specialist care to patients and staff both in hospital and in the community. He has access to and is in continuous liaison with the Urologists in Mater Dei Hospital.

Location

Urology Outreach is located on the 2nd floor of the Blue Block at Mater Dei Hospital. It is easily accessible from the back entrance (facing the University of Malta) of the hospital.

Services offered by Urology Outreach

  • Trials without urinary catheter.
  • Changes of suprapubic catheter.
  • Teaching of self intermittent catheterisation.
  • Advice and support to patients and their carers on how to live safely with a urinary catheter.
  • Advice and support to healthcare staff.

Patients are seen by appointment only. Trials without catheter or teaching of self intermittent catheterisation require a referral from a Urologist. Other procedures as listed can be requested by other healthcare practitioners. Appointments are given according to the clinical indications after the referral reaches our office.

Who looks after the patients?

Urology Outreach is run by Mr. Kevin Holmes DNO. The Consultant Urologists are Mr. K. German, Mr. Stephen Mattocks, and Mr. Patrick Zammit.
